Purpose
To empower a life-long relationship among World Academy members who have completed the work of the World Academy and are passionate and committed to accelerating the leadership of women worldwide.
Mission
To create a dynamic network of World Academy alumni who will:
• promote and contribute to the World Academy for the Future of Women movement worldwide
• support one another in the spirit of leadership in advancing their professional and personal growth
• be their word and be fully expressed with generosity and gratitude
• widen their vision for what is possible for themselves and others on their path to successful leadership
• create the world they want to live in for themselves and others
The World Academy Alumni in Action was established in November 2014 by alumni, Mengdi (Mandy) Tao, who saw the possibility for World Academy members who had completed the Academy program to stay connected on their leadership journey and their career development. Alumni membership begins
after a member completes a minimum of one year of the program and is no longer an active World Academy member on campus.
World Academy alumni are bound together by the experiences shared as a World Academy member, and they use this association to maintain and expand their commitment to their leadership and to impact others through their work, careers, and relationships.
The Alumni in Action members organize alumni meetings, volunteer for local charity events, seek facilitators and mentors for current programs, maintain relationships with previous facilitators, and recruit speakers and participants for the Annual
Women’s Symposium. They pursue financial contributions or donations for World Academy projects or expansion through
their networking and social media. They generate new ways of interacting on social, gender, and humanity issues where they see and believe their engagement will make a difference. They support one another, as well as encouraging current WAFW members to thrive and excel in their program and projects.
